The first visitor was announced a few weeks ago starting the event off with a good line up of potential locos (providing that they get dealt a better set of cards for 2016 after the troublesome year of 2015.

62005 will hopefully join the KWVR's own fleet, consisting of 5820, 75078, 90733 and 43924.

Touching wood that the overhaul is completed, 85 should be making it's way up and down the branch, now fully lined out. I've seen some pictures and she's looking rather special.

Another loco soon to return to service is the KWVR's Black 5, 45212 which has been overhauled by the Riley Team. The loco will be working on the mainline for the majority of the year, but also will be spending some time at the KWVR as part of the loan agreement.

No doubt Nunlow and the Coal Tank will be thrown into the mix, so there's a potential decent line up for their first Big Event for 2016.

    Looking forward to it!

The website says that 90733 will not be available.

KWVR have updated their Winter Steam Gala webpage regaurding 45212:

The boiler has now gone back into the frames (01/02/2016) and the locomotive may still attend the Gala although, even if complete, mainline clearance may not be obtained in time for it to attend. In the event that 45212 is not completed in time, Ian Riley will be sending either of his mainline ‘Black 5’s’ 44871 or 45407

Is anything being done to alleviate the access problem at Ingrow? The council are in danger of slowly killing the goose that lays the golden tourist egg.

Why cannot a lowloader turn LEFT out of Ingrow yard (missing out on the bridge) and follow the A629 south to Halifax or Bradford? I seem to remember a rebuilt WC pacific being photographed at Cross Roads on a journey from Haworth to Keighley around 1995.

I am guessing something big is to Tricky Halifax way, but maybe something small like a Jinty , but this is provided ingrow access is not to close to the bridge by taking the other rout?

I see no problem with turns to the north provided that they are marshalled.

I suspect that the KWVR will have explored all of the options and if there was a way to get larger locos in and out they would already have used it.

Yes, because it's cannot arrive by low loader or under its own steam, oh and it's having its small tubes replaced so if present would be as useful as 48431,or 51218.

Re 75029, just a hypothetical point. When in operational condition could it in theory be moved by rail, towed, under a transit certificate though? It already has partial certification for Whitby ops?
