Just wondering, which railways have gone down the route of modifying a non-kitchen car Mk1 vehicle in order to provide such a facility for their dining trains?

A quick check has shown 35487 East Somerset, and 34625 Ecclesbourne as recent completions. Anywhere else?

The Strathspey runs former TSO 4331 as a kitchen car. We didn't convert it, it was purchased from a private owner at the Gloucester & Warwickshire, where it ran as the Elegant Excursions dining train. The Carriage survey lists it as having started at Buxton town as the Palatine resturant. It runs with former postal 80433, as the pantry car, dish washers, sinks, fridges etc and former courier vehicle, 80219, which contains the generator and storage. All three ran together at the G&W.

Not a recent conversion, but North Norfolk have an ex Mk1 BG, now kitchen car, 81033.

The conversion is fairly sympathetic externally (no roller shutter doors added).

WCRC have a converted SK, 25893, as as kitchen car.

The South Devon Railway have also converted BSK 34326 into a kitchen car.
