The LCDR R + R1 class was a class of 0-4-4T locomotives on the South Eastern and Chatham Railway, which were based on an existing London, Chatham and Dover Railway design

A bit of a chameleon loco these. To my eye, they always look very different beasties from photo to photo, according to exactly which angle you're seeing them from.

Does anyone please know, did any of this class ever work on the SW section?

They look rather Midland-ish, to me, although Johnson rather than (Matthew) Kirtley. Is this coincidence?

Yes I am an active volunteer
They shouldn't strictly be labelled as LCDR, since although the design is by Kirtley, they were ordered by the SE&CR in 1900. They constitute a slightly enlarged version of the 1891 R class 0-4-4Ts. Subsequently, the Wainwright H was heavily influenced by theses locos.

Yes. Firstly, there were a number of them shedded at Reading during the inter-war years, where they worked Reading - Guildford services, but sometimes worked on the Waterloo line if required, for example horse box specials to Ascot. On at least one occasion, one worked through to Waterloo on a Reading - Waterloo local service when nothing else was available.

Latterly, during the war there were motive power shortages on the Western section caused by withdrawal of S&D locos to work elsewhere on the LMS, which were backfilled by ex-LSWR locos, but then those in turn were backfilled by other SR locos. That resulted in quite a mix up of types round London, and R1s 1696/8 were shedded at Nine Elms during the war, where they generally worked the empty stock trains between Clapham Junction and Waterloo, but occasionally worked as far afield as Woking and Wimbledon on shunting and van trains.

They were all reboilered in SE&CR or early SR days with the H class boiler, which sat higher in the frames and, to my eyes, gives them a rather dumpy appearance with short boiler fittings. They looked rather more handsome as originally built.
