With the sad passing of our "Irish Three Foot" moderator Matthew a few weeks ago, now seems an appropriate time to give the new format a bash.

I've not heard anything on the future of the Yahoo! group as yet and emails are coming as per usual. Pending first posts from the new site, I dunno if the modelmaking aspect is included, which has always been 80% of the present group's traffic. Time will tell.

Got an email invite this morning, so see you over there too in the not too distant future.

Know what you mean, but nowadays, pretty much all technology's out of date by the time it hits the streets anyway!

Any forum is only ever as good as it's membership and all the gee-whizzery in the world will never change that. It's not as if it's an 'either/or' situation, so I'm happy to give it a go and see how things develop.

Apart from the droopy buffers and stuck whistle valve, the rear top of her chimney appears to have rotted through.

yes but that is how some Industrial locos where treated at the time they where a tool to be used, when I was with the North Downs in Kent we where offered a number of locos that where only fit for scrap or beyond saving, I guess you can't save everything.

    Colin,
I was replying to Michael's (@Avonside2 ) question, not commenting on why the loco was in that condition.

If only this were more generally appreciated, some places would be a lot more tidy!

For when Nancy is finished, some folk are starting to take very preliminary steps to consider a new build of C&MLR No.7 'Peake', to run on suitable 3 foot lines throughout Ireland (and maybe beyond). For those interested, there's now a Facebook group under the title "C&MLR No.7 'Peake'" (put this into Search) and new members are encouraged. At this stage I understand it'll just be finding what drawings etc are available and taking advice from other groups such as Lyn, Gowrie, and of course Nancy.
