An update from the NLR. Peckett 2104 has had its new tubes fitted and expanded, just waiting for them to be beaded over now. Peckett 1378, drilling of the boiler mounting brackets has started along with running board supports. Where is conway at the moment? Just wondered as we have colwyan No 45

    Re: Industril Loco Updates!!

Conway was bought in 2006 and is now on middleton railway and is owned by the middleton railway trust. It is at first going to have a cosmetic job done so it can go on display in the engine house, and in the distant future for a full heavy overhaul.

It would of been nice to see p2103 and p2104 together in steam......Isnt that class the "R4 special" the only complete class of loco left??

    Re: Industril Loco Updates!!

Just heard today from one of our 6880 men at Llangollen that Jenifer has now passed her hydraulic test

Work is now concentated on making her ready for her steam test, all this being done with the boiler out of the frames so if there are last minute tweaks then they can easily be applied.

    not so far off now

    Re: Industril Loco Updates!!

Not sure if this is the right place to post my reply but I'm overhauling a polish TKh at the Spa Valley - 3135 "Spartan". Ok I know it's foreign, but it does come from an industrial background.

Anyway, after its successful hydraulic test and subsequent return to the Spa Valley three weeks ago, Spartan underwent its first light warm throughs this weekend. This is not in steam, but just warming through to just give all the new platework and repairs a little stretch. Such was the success of works on Saturday to prepare the boiler for its first planned warming on Sunday, that the decision was taken to light it up on Saturday. A day earlier than planned.

The warmings will now continue for a couple of weeks before it undergoes light steamings, gradually working up to a full boiler test in mid to late July hopefully.

The frames are almost ready for the boiler to be returned. There are a couple of jobs to undertake. Namely the reassmebly of one of the pistons after its exam. This is almost done and just requires the piston rod stuffing box repacking.

HC 1369 (M.S.C 67) at the time of writing will at least have one cylinder bored out by now and the other one ready to be bored.
We will then have to make new liners for the two cylinders and then rebore the liners

And as the Beyer Peacock leaves Shildon for Foxfield, the same lorry will be bringing Eustace Forth back from York to Shildon, will probably steam test it on Wednesday. \:D/

Here you go, Bellerophon's 1st movements on Sunday 15th June! Our estimable loco supt. clearing the tubes!

Robert Heath No.6 behind Bellyflop and Wimblebury to the left also steam tested following foundation ring repairs, should be back in traffic within a couple of weeks!

Excellent to see it in steam again. Is it just me, or does the smoke looks a bit digitally altered in the pic?

I think it's more like a heat haze. It's also visible over towards the red van. Possibly a combination of heat/camera

All good stuff. Well done to the Foxfield Lads. Look forward to at least a couple of rides behind her this year!
