Page 14 has full page article on the possibility of a new build Dean Goods.

Pontypool have a former Dean Goods Boiler that was overhauled for use as a stationary boiler at Swindon, but they believe it was never used as such.

They acquired it hoping to modify it for use on 9629, but now Didcot have apparently got a spare Pannier boiler and so P&BR are prepared to sell the Dean Goods boiler in order to raise cash for the purchase of the Pannier boiler.

All very interesting, and tbh a Dean Goods is certainly something I'd look into supporting as I'm sure a number of others will. I just hope this isn't HR fishing for another story though and not checking up their facts as they've been prone to do in the past.

I hope that there is some truth behind this. I'd be really keen to get involved in something like this, beyond donating if I can find the time.

I'm curious about where the GWS have got a spare pannier boiler from - I've never heard it mentioned before - and why they don't want to keep it

I could be wrong but I think it might be the original from 9629- I remember seeing this years ago on a well wagon at Didcot.

Note that Mr Burns of 72010 fame considered this 'new build' in the Early 90's !

An outside frame version would be interesting.
