I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but HR mag is very rarely out on the day it is actually advertised. For example this month's edition is supposed to be in the shops today and guess what it's not there. Last month's edition was a day late and I think 2 months ago it was 2 days late not even reaching the shops until Saturday morning. I can only speak for the shops in Eastbourne but it's just getting a little tedious going in there every month to buy it only to find that yet again it's not out on the day it's been advertised in the previous edition. ](*,)

Looking at the HR mag website I see that's not even been updated either, still with last month's edition on the front webpage whilst advertising the next edition to be released on 30th August. This is very slack by HR, I know it's only a day or so but if they're advertising when their next issue is going to be in the shops it ought to be there on the day and the website should be updated on that date as well.

Seeing as the subscription copies were out last week (got mine Saturday), this does seem very slack.

It must only be a problem in the Eastbourne shops then I guess, probably something to do with the distributers. In all honesty I can't remember a time when HR mag WAS actually out on the day it was advertised in Eastbourne. Bloody distributers! [-X

I find that the availability of HR in WHS branches varies enormously. In one case it was available in one branch two weeks before it appeared in another!

I actually wrote to HR a while back, as it is almost impossible to get a copy over here in N.Ireland. W.H.Smith is about the only place I can get it and there's only one branch here!!

Their reply was surprising to say the least. They gave me the name of their distributor and told me that I should contact this company to sort out the problem. I was astounded, HR obviously don't know the meaning of customer service and are obviously confused as to who the customer is....

Finally got it in WH Smith's this morning. Cracking pic of Bittern on the front cover and it's actually pin sharp which makes a change for HR mag, usually they put a blurred or grainy pic on the front cover.

IIRC the latest issue was announced as being on sale on the Thursday 28th August in the back cover of the previous issue!

A more decent cover than usual too - had a quick flick through it in the newsagents yesterday.

The last couple have been out early in my local WH Smiths so my Dad says. I always get mine early anyway as I subscribe.

Not only is the magazine early, but so was our run to Chester this Saturday aparently...

"... the King resumed its mainline commitments by heading Past-Time Rail's Christmas Chester Chuffer from Birmingham International to Chester running via Crewe on Saturday 22nd December."

To be fair last month it was actually out on time in the shops in Eastbourne, but that was a first for some considerable months'. I can only speak for the shops in Eastbourne but up until last month it was always a day late, I think back in July it wasn't even in the shops until 3 days after it was supposed to be published. What I will say in HR's defence though is that I suspect this is more to do with the distributing firm rather than the magazine.

Saw it in my smiths today.
Another mistake and a the worst was "the down inner home signal at Bewdley was one of two awards which went to the Severn Valley Railway, which was left devestated by two floods in 2008.
