    Which begs an obvious question...?

    Maybe they both like "Breakfast at Tiffanys"? :)

    opposites attract, and when they do you find ways to make it work.

    Sexist post thread. What about those on here that aren't male or prefer non female relationship.

    Shouldn't it be? ;

    How does your partner view your interest in Steam Railways ?

    Why not hit the report button, and flag it up with the mods? Dosn't take much to do.

    Interesting thread. I am very lucky, my wife likes trains and shares some trips, though she's not into the steam railway technical detail.

    Take the point about the thread title and the need to be more inclusive and gender neutral. Why not get a comment from that new mainline tours start-up that sounds relevant - think they are called "Sappho's Trains" ??

    That tends to suggest female same sex relationships...................

    My wife was responsible for turning a general interest in railways into something more substantial after buying me a book about different steam railways as a present when I qualified. So it's all her fault!

    She enjoys quite a lot of the aspects of my interest - particularly a day out on a steam train, or going on holiday abroad by train (we're going to Milan in a couple of months - easy to get to from London in a day). She just doesn't want to do it too often...

    We share a lot of interests, so as long as I don't go too overboard its generally tolerated...

    My wife takes great delight in telling people she found me under a train! It was while doing maint on the DMU on Epping Ongar Railway at the time. She came along to the railway after seeing an article that I had submitted to the local paper about needing more volunteers (I was EOR Publicity Officer at the time) so only had myself to blame. When our Chairman showed her around and suggested working as platform staff or catering, her reply was 'but I want to work on the trains'.

    When I found out she also liked motor racing, I knew I couldn't let this one get away. We've been married for 9 years now. :D

    We no longer volunteer on any particular railway, but she is happy to help with work I do for HRA and have many of our holidays planned around which heritage railways are running. :)
