Flange wear on a virtually strait railway, if there is it would point to some other problem, given said locomotive has spent far more time facing north than south that also dispels that theory.

The railway is far from straight, look at a map and you will see that a large section is one big curve.

Things are slowly coming together, the king should be delivered by road today With the s160 later in the week. If you’re about over the weekend then you may be able to see the visitors being worked on from the viewing area on the side road (access is from the far right hand corner of the toddington main carpark) Only three footplate rides remain unsold and these will go very quickly, so get in there now if you want one. Long range forecast looks ok, so fingers crossed.

Hi all. Hoping to come for my first run on the GWSR on the Saturday...but...there is bustitution Reading to Gloucester for Cheltenham Spa. How easy is it to get form Honeybourne to Broadway...or better still is there a dedicated bus for the gala?

Easier to go to Evesham to get a bus to Broadway - https://bustimes.org/services/rural-4-willersey-broadway-wickhamford-evesham Drops off outside the Caravan park in Broadway so next to the railway.

thanks for that. Very useful...Less useful is the fact that there's no bus to connect with the 09:19 arrival at Evesham. My first trip may be another time

Actually I will suck up the wait in Evesham, so thanks again Pete, I think without your help I would have abandoned hope. Is there much to do there for an hour from 09:20m on a Saturday?

Evesham Station is close to the town centre and there is a Spoons nearby for a cheap brekkie;)

Thanks - I'll pick one up at the end of the month on a visit to the upcoming steam gala. Just in case you didn't see them Vols 79 & 80 of the 'Great Western Journal' from 2011 contained a detailed two part article about the operations at Honeybourne Junction over the years.

Evesham has a nice little town centre and there are plenty of shops and cafes :)

I actually live in Evesham, so I know everything about the place.

I've had all sorts of steam locos come through Evesham on tours such as 60009, 70013, and quite a few others, and from what I've seen and heard, many more to come in the future.

But yes, plenty of shops and cafes, lots to do in the town centre.

70013 was the last steam loco to pass through Evesham, in February, so the Cotswold Festival Of Steam is the second time this year I will have seen it.

Yes, I forgot about that since I filmed it at Ashchurch on the return after I didn't manage to see it at Evesham.

Can I have a last check up on which way locos are due to face? I thought I got my head round it, but I think I've confused myself now with it all!

I think the consensus when the King was announced was that King George traversed the line in the '70s (can't remember if a tour or just a movement) but other than that no. Pretty sure we were only ever a red route in GWR days; the Cornishman was always a castle or hall at any rate, never a king AFAIK.
