I attended 'Mail by Rail' gala yesterday and once again a well organised event with the intensive service that the double track allows provided a good day's entertainment. The talk of the day was how the sun went in everytime a steam hauled train appeared!
This was, of course, many people's first chance to see the 'Fairburn' tank in action.
My photos of the day can be seen at my fotopic site.

    Regards,

    Paul

No problem sunday, it never came out! Despite that the Fairburn still stole the show, Sorry Sir Lamiel but you haven't been caged up for as long as the Fairburn. Low point was probably the first maildrop by the diesel, by all accounts some one could have run along side and handed the bags to them, well thats progress for you!

Another excellent day on saturday.Too right it was uncanny the way the sun disappeared every time a train passed and then reappeared straight away after it had gone.Trains kept pretty well to time and the intensity of the service once again proved the worth of the double track.I look forward to seeing if anyone actually got anything in full sun!
