Have DB not also downsized. I thought I read on another forum that a number of drivers had been offered the opportunity to transfer along with some work to GBRF. Not sure if that would have any impact on the steam driver pool, but this move being a weekend means there will be engineering trains needed and I assume DB are still involved in these.

 

I only know of two of the DB steam crew. One is my cousin, second one I've only met once. I think your right they have downsized, I'm not familiar with how many they have on their books that do the steam stuff and admittedly the two I know don't get much opportunities to do it due them not having the route knowledge on some of the routes.

What some of the motoring fraternity call "pateena"...

 

A selection of shots from Guildford yesterday of the Tyseley to Alton positioning move. A good crowd turned up to see 60103 as did most of the station staff and the British Transport Police.
A friend went to Ash where he said there was also a large turnout. Watching videos on YouTube last night it looks like a lot of the stations on the route had rather a lot of observers. So the appeal with the public hasn't worn off yet.
Looking forward to our ride behind the A3 next Saturday. Scotsman will be hauling seven coaches over the Alps although there will be a banker (30506?).

Anyone know when it’s leaving the Watercress yet, and / or the route it’s taking?

Bloody thing practically went past the end of my garden on a day I was stuck in London…

41312 is banking the services Flying Scotsman is taking.

 

I wondered if 41312 would do the banking duties again (she was the banking engine for the A3 in 2020) but when I heard that the Scotsman trains were a rake of 7 I thought this would be too much for 41312. 60103 is going to have to work hard on the banking duties on the return run from Alton as 41312 will be hauling quite a load for a Class 2 tank up the 1 in 60.

 

Agreed, Scotsman is certainly gonna have to work hard to assist 41312 on the return journey.

As far as I've been made aware 35005 is operating the Alton Feeder Service. I have no idea if 30506 will make any appearances over the Scotsman event. Perhaps running on the static days but not planned to on running days.

The method of operation is described in the example itinerary. However the booking page says:
"travelling with Flying Scotsman on a spectacular round trip along the railway’s 10-mile line, covering a total distance of 20 miles."
I wonder how many will read that as FS both ways, personally I would.
Of course if you are in the coach next to 41312 it is really a trip with the Ivatt (a lovely little machine) perhaps fares should be higher in that coach.
Bearing in mind all the froth around unclear diesel presence on the mainline I wonder if the same issue will arise here from some pax.

I only looked in the first place as I wondered what the ticket price being charged was.
