Is there any chance we could try really hard to not sound like sexist dinosaurs when talking on the Flying Scotsman thread?

It is not a good look for the industry.

Crikey! Exactly how many young girls have been surveyed as to the reasons why they dislike steam locomotives?!! :Saywhat:

How many (young) girls have any clue of what a steam locomotive is? (but that`s another topic)

I have a granddaughter who still complains about the day that a steam loco made her cry. But she was three at the time and she was next to a pacific when the valves lifted. Pleased to say that she views them differently now.

As far as a livery debate is concerned and its birthday, that feels like a 'rock and a hard place' problem. Apple Green is the cheapest option but some will still complain that it's as inappropriate a look as some believe it is now.

I’m sorry for my comments. I got it completely wrong. As a young man I fear I’m out of touch with my age group.

I’ve sparked a sexism row and I’m deeply sorry for that.

I shouldn't worry too much Sam there are many who have nothing better to do than find fault with anyone who posts a comment that they think might offend someone else.

No problem. Huge admirer of your work and what you do. Sometimes the Nae Sayers ad you call them wear me down especially over the last 2 years.

Don't sweat it Sam. I've been out of touch with every age group for over six decades .... and proud to say I'm still perfectly capable of annoying them all equally! :)
