The local press reports on 1st September of a team of track contractors changing a rail on the Turin - Milan line that was hit around midnight by an ECS working traveling at the line speed of 160km/h. Five were killed, and two badly injured.
I'd post a link, but online reports I've found are in Italian or German.

The precise cause still has to be determined, but it looks like the contractors started working before the last train movement.
Bystanders report a loud bang and pieces of wreckage up to 300m away, according to the paper.

Lookout training clearly not useful if the train comes at you at 100mph in the dark!
