I don't think that there are any running at this gala.

You obviously weren't there when the 4F and Jinty were used on the morning freights? Just stunning and more than enough reason to keep trying again! If you are missing your freight action you can always pop down to Foxfield tomorrow morning for a sunrise charter...

You could always go for a ride on the train if the weather isn't to your liking.

And you thought it was a waste of time????? Certainly the best photography I have ever done on the East Lancs. I will only generally visit a gala with freights as I generally prefer quieter days to ride and photograph passenger trains. Perhaps freights will run again again at the East Lancs gala in the New Year?

I've got some stunning video of 80098 working in early morning mist. Yes wasn't golden sunshine, but the atmosphere that was created in the early morning was awesome.

A couple of shots from today. A rather enjoyable day despite the rain.

Full video coverage is available on the 'Part 5' DVD.

A Tornado blew in through the East Lancs today...

the steam engine & the weather..!!

a great buzz in the air as I arrived down at Castlecroft this morning...

We all waited with excitement for it to come through the tunnel to then couple up to its 9.35 train...

armed with cameras off to the station for some close up shots.

I wanted to check out the paintwork .. (we have a plan to use the same type of paint on a up & coming repaint so was interested to see its quality..?)

a great sight too see , who said Britain cant make anything anymore..!!

lots of people gathered , just to see the spectacle of "Tornado"

With the rain pouring down at 09.35(or there abouts)

off it went through Bury tunnel the first of many "Tornados".....

Nice afternoon at Burrs watching the action that didnt disappoint dispite the rain and clouds. Some nice combinations running - Tornado piloting the Duke, and Black 5 & std 5 together plus Leander putting on a great display.
Hope to be back tomorrow with better weather forcast as well !

Great gala yesterday, thoroughly enjoyed the rides behind 45337, 5690, 71000 and 73129.

Many thanks to all those involved.

    Best Regards

How very apt with 60163 and 71000. The new build and the almost new build. Is 45337's liviery temporary or is it going into LMS liviery like I've heard but either way its nice to see Black 5 in a different liviery.
