Have they done any more work on the bridge since installing the main beams ? There doesn't seem to be anything mentioned on their website. Is there a photopage somewhere ?

A couple of shots of the Bridge plus one of the Officers Special from which they were taken on 2nd April 2014. Possibly the first steam locomotive up the line since being relaid.

(With many thanks to all at the Strathspey who organised this train and made it happen).

    He
    llo,
the 'officers special' was not an OS but a special to scatter the ashes of another member who did not live to see the bridge go in. Work on finishing the bridge and track is ongoing. No track can be laid on the north side of the river until such things as planning permission etc. are sorted out.

I think you may find that Bean Counter was there to do the honours with the ashes but probably felt this was unnecessary information for the general readership......

Whatever the reason for the train, the work is a credit to them.

There's been quite a few engines up to Dulnain Bridge since the track was relaid in 2007, were you able to cross to the other side?

For those who haven't been watching the blog, here is an interesting post showing the current state of work on the bridge.

That crane will give the bridge a good load test :)

This looks really tidy - I look forward to returning to Grantown by train. I'm old enough to have been there by train back in 1965 - it was the other Grantown station on the Speyside line.

Keep an eye out over the next year - we have planning consent for the next mile(ish) of the alignment which will take us right to the A95 at the Gaich Crossing, and we hope to get going with fencing and creating access tracks, and hope to get the crane, together with the rest of the track laying equipment, across and into Morayshire in the next 12 months.

The blog referred to above is a good way of keeping up to date with what we are doing - and if any of you fancy coming along and giving us a hand - let us know!

Good to see what is happening....
Very tempting to return and give a helping hand for a weekend and see how different the place is since I last worked there in '89...

Well you would be very welcome - we have a relatively small PWay team and we can do with all the help that we can get!!!

Is it still hoped to lay some track on the north side of the bridge any time soon? Would be fantastic to be able to drive along the A95 and see the railway waiting for the road bridge!
