Noting from RTT today's DCE is running quite late already. Is that problems with the tour or just general late running southbound on SWT today?

Also is anyone able to confirm it is Tangmere today as scheduled please?

Nothing wrong with SWT and yes, the DCE is running a bit late. Tangmere plus 10 plus Class 37 doing what diesels do.

Was 11 late through Woking with a very shiny Tangmere on the front.

29L by Basingstoke - seems to be losing time steadily and rapidly.

What they sometimes do is give a push to increase speed, but apparently not in this instance. Whatever the cause of the delays, they seem to be steadily accumulating.

4 late approaching Southampton. Was put on the fast line (that's a good YouTube channel! ;) ) after Winchester. Sounding nice today, some good acceleration away from a signal check at Farnborough.

All OK again by Beaulieu Road.

    Diesel-assisted acceleration?

Didn't do it much good! Was running on yellows / double yellows at Southwood while the preceding Basingstoke stopper did its business at Fleet. Normally the steam charters run ahead of the stopper but, because the charter was running late today, the stopper got priority.

You just don't need 35 min to get from Shawford to Souuthampton. There is plenty of recovery and pathing time in the schedule. The crew knew it and so did NR.

Indeed they are. Quite a pleasing result on rather a dull day, weather-wise.

Should have been more footage, from near Southampton, but the "late running tangmere" miraculously made up 23 minutes in 22 miles leaving me open mouthed and far from camera ready as it sailed passed blowing a dismissive and defiant whistle at me.

It was and not helped by the livery, I feel.

Bring back rail blue with large logo. A far better livery

Damn, should have been on it. I am pretty sure that the just under 48 minutes shown on RTT would have been my fastest non stop Basingstoke to Beaulieu Road start to stop with steam.

I really love the way Tangy appears from stage right just as the juice train exits stage left!
