This has gone from 7 late at Clapham Junction to 28 Late at Micheldever. Not so good.

44932 up front, 37706 at the tail doing ALL the work. Dunno if its because its on trailing regulator, but 44932 sounded a little sick and clanky.

    22mins late through brookwood

Thanks for that. Probably not worth a 2 hour round-trip to see it at Grateley this evening, in that case.

There were signalling problems/line blocked at Southampton announcements on local radio earlier. Possibly signalling delays/backed up trains not loco problems with the special.

It has to be questioned whether it's worth the effort to steam the loco, along with the wear and tear, just to be pushed around. Just bite the bullet and go with a solo diesel if NR imposes restrictions.

DSC03682.JPG Sounded healthy as it left Winchfield , but so did the pushing 37.Carriages by no means full.

They mean "on the front" not "motive power"

Didn't even bother to see this one as I have run out of places to fot the 5. Took wife out for a lovely meal in Gun Wharf Quay instead using the Gosport ferry and spent a pleasant couple of hours ship spotting from the restaurant.

That's not the answer to the question. Just a thought as I was on yesterday and the Basingstoke to London leg was interesting.

It did Woking to Clapham Junction at about a 60mph average.

Has to be said, from what I have seen, the '37 put on a fine noisy claggy show.

No. The only restriction is for 'tender first' running. Which only applies when the tender is the lead vehicle of the train.

I think he was referring to the fact that '5s are restricted to 60 mph running, and 37's are not.
