In modern times I believe this name has been recycled and used for 153's, which incidentally are sometimes called Dogboxes or Tin Rockets...

Class 460's were known as Darth Vaders, one of my favourite nicknames for a class!

A friend of mine who was a Lime St driver referred to 91's as 'Skoda Hatchbacks.' though I know not if the term was widely used.

According to that Trainspotting Live programme a few months back, the 68s are nicknamed Darth Vaders. Which certainly makes sense, although I'd have thought it's a bit early for any nickname to really stick.

Only nick name I've heard for 68's = Cats

DRS 66's Dreds following on from EWS 66's = Sheds & Freighliner 66's = Freds

As to the Trainspotting Live programmes - 'Over to Dick spotting at Doncaster' renders anything else on those programmes equally laughable !!!

153's were also known around these parts as Skateboards.

Class 20s were occasionally known as 'wardrobes' thus 58s became 'fitted wardrobes' :)

Also 'Jukebox' in some areas; not all 24s had such controls; 24081 at Toddington is the only such survivor I believe.

One question I've been asked by a MOP and never actually been able to answer. Why is a Gronk known as a Gronk?

Supposedly from the noise that the rods make, moving off from rest.
