I must admit I am not a big fan of the livery on 45699 but what the hell does it matter when it put on such a magnificent performance yesterday. I am rather annoyed I didn't have time to get out to see this yesterday as the videos I have seen show a Jubilee on top form throughout. I am really hoping she is on the 9th July trip to Weymouth and is allowed to go solo.
Yesterday was a pretty good day for ML Steam with both 45699 and 60103 working faultless trips without diesels in tow. At the end of the day NR won't be too fussed that one Loco was the wrong colour.

WCRC have their boxes painted in their corporate colours. Galatea is just following the same pattern.

We should rejoice that a scrap yard survivor is back on the mainline.

Hmm.. remember this?! It did happen with a Deltic! (image borrowed from the internet BTW).

Lovely to see the videos of Galatea - she really is in top form now.

I wish I'd never started this now, it's just my preference, there are a lot who are more fussy than me, like not booking on the West Highland Charter because they were using an inappropriate loco on the Mallaig road (Black5). The red was only supposed to be temporary so who knows what will happen when it needs a repaint

Any chance we can stick the livery debate of 45699 where the sun don't shine and I don't mean Shap ! Regardless of the colour, the Jubilee sounded terrific yesterday, with the famous roar we all know about more than audible, especially up Campden Bank. Anyway here's my video featuring four locations. Enjoy :)

My footage of the Jub Jub thundering through the Cotswolds. Seen accelerating towards Culham and roaring up to Chipping Campden Tunnel.

Looks and sounds like a tremendous performance. Certainly no shortage of steam. Wish I'd been there!

A short clip of No.45699 'Galatea' racing down Honeybourne bank yesterday. I quite liked the red livery - it matched the carriages and made a nice change from all the BR black locos :)

Disregard. Some glitch on the I-pad trying to cancel a draft.

Having seen Galatea looking so sad at Carnforth in the early 80s with no future other than as spares I don't care if runs painted to look like Mr Blobby. The fact it is it has survived and is running. Of course it would be nicer if people keep the locos in their correct names and liveries but does it really matter PROVIDED the knowledge is retained of what was authentic. Galatea looks more right to me in the bastardised version of maroon (even though it is wrong) than does Leander running in black. Hoping it gets to Weymouth on Saturday and gives it some going back up the bank either on the front or as banker.

You mean looking like this:- 80-5-4 46599.jpg
It really does make you realize how irrelevant ones views on livery are when you compare this view with how she is today, 36 years later.

Yep. Was there with NELPG working on the KI, Galatea looked so sad back then.
