Can anyone explain here (with a diagram if necessary) how a "conditional" works on a tappet locking frame and illustrate an example of its use.

Funnily enough, I was kept entertained for a good few minutes by a small seven-lever frame in the museum on Southend Pier. I think it must have had some conditional locking, and since it's something that I, too, have often wondered about, I had every intention of trying to work it out how said locking worked. Unfortunately, my efforts to disprove the museum chap's theory that 'only four levers work' (the interlocking works then), and generally work out the layout without the aid of a diagram, meant that I forgot all about the conditional locking.

So no, I'm afraid I'm no help this time!

    Forgot to add:
Basically, we have a selection of tappets that came from a relocking, and work in the manner shown:
    http://mysite.du.edu/~etuttle/rail/lock.htm
I will dig out the tappets from a big pile and try to photograph them with their locking.

Currently trying to sort out the movement of Sleights Sidings East signalbox to Bolton Abbey to act as a demonstration box...
