Does anybody know which sections of this tour will actually run behind steam, and when 60009 will move north so she's in position?

    Thanks.

"Please note that the tour on 23rd August will be steam hauled from Carlisle to Blackburn on the return journey including the Settle and Carlisle Railway section.
We will be diesel hauled from York to Carlisle and from Blackburn to Newcastle due to the continued Network Rail enforced steam ban in the York and Newcastle areas".

Cheers Stuart, I hadn't spotted that on the RTC page. I stopped reading at the paragraph above that mentions it returning back via Keighley!

All very frustrating. There are very few steam tours originating in the North East these days, and to lose so much steam mileage now thanks to what appears, on the face of it, to be what has developed into a peeing contest is very disheartening. It is to be hoped that this can all be resolved before next summer.

This year I have noticed quite a few tours with 75mph engines on schedules apparently timed for 60mph max even over routes where 75mph is easily maintained over long distances (eg 5043 between Worcester and Taunton).

If anyone is able to confirm where in the consist the diesel is for this working, would be much appreciated.

I think it would take great strength of character not to take that cloud personally, Shep! Perfect shot, save for the efforts of the "Lighting Director"! :D
