I'm thinking of paying my first visit to the Churnet Valley for the wartime W/E. Is there any sign of a timetable yet, and does anyone know if they will be running trains on the Branch during the event?

    Cheers

    Andy

Cheers, though not sure I can go and congratulate the tea girls for not smothering sandwiches in mayo. That maybe one compliment too far...

On the steam loco front 5197 will be running for Santas, 68030 is hoped to be ready for Easter and 6046 returns in January. Having 4x Home locos will be a novelty!

As the event organiser, it will be the YELLOW 2x train service but the afternoon will be altered slightly to accommodate the Battle Recreation (locos in use 2944 and 33102). I'm just waiting for their H&S Officer to get back to me so I know what is fully required (he should of been down this morning). There will also be an evening service on Saturday, £6 all evening rover (valid from 6pm). :)

First frosty day of the winter but bright and sunny. Moving ballast again - an over-rated task.

More heads down etc, , or even get down on your knees. The last two Pway days have seen us working on joints to improve the smoothness of the ride. Near Cheddleton Tunnel and between Chedd and Consall.

Getting track work done today between the Santa Specials was tricky at times but at least we had a train running so that we could see the effect our efforts had had on the track

From the shots below it looks like there was not a lot of activity - working on the track at Chedd, we had to stop when the Santa Specials were passing.

Of course, what looks like inactivity to the layman, could also be the result of the work being done in such an expert fashion that there was time to spare.....;)
