    Yes, The Steam Railway piece makes good reading and is accompanied by a nice photo of the train rushing through Weybridge on the outward leg.

    For those of us just too young, (and even younger), to have experienced what you describe it is great to be able to read your stories. Maybe you should consider publishing some kind of diaries. Steam Railway may even consider serialising them.

    Yes, that comment from Wayne made me realise how close Clan Line, and presumably many other locos must come to being able to reach those higher speeds. The temptation to make it happen must be huge so all credit to those guys for exercising self control, not just for their own sake, but in order not to provide any excuse for the "steam haters" to drive it off the network.

    If and when it does happen it will be with the blessing of those currently holding the strings, and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
