I've not actually been to Shap Wells so I'm not sure about that, but if you look at the video at 5.25 that I think is the road bridge that you would come under. Then panning round a bit further you get the trees coming into view and that looks likely to be the pointy bit on the map under the word Mon.. :-k

The bridge and minor road seen in the video is the one I mentioned, that runs to the Shap Wells Hotel. The video was recorded from Queens Monument which you can access from the said road.

Going well through Acton Bridge this morning, then caught a glimpse from the M6 north of Preston but stuck at the back of a huge ruck of cars so could not get a good view.
Stormed up Shap with a good whislte to the crowd at Scout Green, but not for us hiogher up. Then again at the summit. Some of the photograpers were a bit upset about the guy in a yellow jacket on the footplate. Very surprised at that, I thought that crews were morte careful these days.
Will be out later for the return and will sort video out am tomorrow.

An update on southbound run over shap. It was the 3rd fastest run in preservation with load 10, which topped the summit at 57mph. It was 18 seconds slower than the scot last month.

An excellent effort on both climbs. Bob, you must be very pleased with the performance of the Castle on Shap (sorry, Castle Over Shap).

I take your point but it didn't worry me, it was just a comment from several of the guys where I was videoing from.

I think it's fair to say Swindon products fair far better up north when handled and loaded correctly.

Update, there has been a problem south of Preston, two trains were stationary at Leyland station for 25 minutes, things are now moving again and 5043 has just gone through approx 30 minutes down.
