Whatever it is, it returns from York as 1Z95 via Copy Pit.

passed Carnforth today around 10.30 as Guardsman awaited the stock for the Cumbrian coast, top & tailed by WCR 47s with pullman stock, north bound, if that was it. dont know of any other booked today.
Er... oh yes, it was the "Winter West Highland Statesman " its just that people on the platform said its that private charter...... when will I learn......

I think we are getting 2 trains confused here. There was indeed a Cardiff/Fort William WCRC working today which is the one you are talking about. However,as well as that, there is a Carnforth to York WCRC working referred to earlier in the thread which is indeed a private charter.

Worried that 46115 may start more fires based on its last outing +2013 Scarborough Spa Express incident.

As a vac-only loco, 46115 won't be going anywhere just at the moment. At least this gives the Carnforth shed staff time to check the spark arrestors and refit or replace any parts that need it, and to catch up with any other outstanding jobs with their fleet.

Every working steam loco has been in millions of pieces at some time.

I don't know about that, would you use time, money and resources on what may be in effect, a museum piece in a month or so's time ?

I think that's rather pessimistic. So long as the shed staff haven't been laid-off (no sign of that happening yet, I think), I'd get them working on the maintenance back-log. On the other hand, maybe 46115 is a bit too close to her boiler overhaul to justify running repairs?

one possible good thing from this with no other work, has it enabled the staff to get 35018 nearer to being finished

Not much point if it is unabled to be used anywhere except a heritage line. The same applies to 6023 , 45551 & the many other new builds/conversions/ overhauls etc. Especially the ones not air brake fitted.
