So that explains why I had to travel to Exmouth Junction to see it. It was not even in the shed confines but as I remember it was parked up on the other side of the main line.

Definitely, looking forward to it. Also pleasing to see 257 Squadron getting a mention in the article as well, I well remember passing my firing exam on Squadron 3 days before it was finally withdrawn.

34078 222 Squadron was withdrawn in Sept 1964 and was cut up at Birds Swansea Dec 1964.

Probably to replace the unavailable 6023. And the MHR have got the tank, 1744 coming in late October which is based at the GCR so a swap may be in order.

Does anyone know if 34007 has now re-entered service? It's return to service at the beginning of the month was postponed.

    Cheers,

This has probably been asked before, but I seem to recall on the Bulleid Society Website a few years ago a section concerning the then current situation of all preserved Bulleids from their respective owning groups. Is there a Bulleid owners' association in existence for the exchange of ideas and mutual assistance? Would there be support for one if it existed, or would it just be seen as another layer of bureaucracy? Just curious...

Unless I've missed it, the Bulleid Society website only appears to have a (very comprehensive) set of information regarding dates/mileage and who they were originally sold to. The only pages detailing current status's are for the societies own locos. You would need to contact as many current owners as possible to see if they would be interested in joining/forming a supporting association. I wouldn't necessarily think of it as an additional layer of bureaucracy if it is only acting as a support group rather than some sort of controlling group. The Bulleid Society website is a good starting point if an independant website was to be created to cover all Bulleid locos in detail (their history and current status).

A very effective owners association has been in place for a long time - the Bulleid Pacific Locomotive Association.

Thanks for that. I thought there was something in existence, but it probably operates quietly, yet effectively, hence why I wasn't sure.

Indeed it does. Not a lot of shouting from the rooftops about what we do.

I remember reading meeting notes from the Association on the Bulleid Society web site, they seem to have disappeared now.

No Bulleid news since 22nd August.......where is everyone?

Here's something; SLL have announced a new photo competition to feature their locos in action (or at rest) during the next couple of months, not least Manston's forthcoming visit to the WSR. Full details here:

Well, surely you and your lads could have given an update on 34053 while you did the September update?

Or, is the loco so near completion now you want to keep it a nice surprise for when she emerges from Herston?
