Absolutely and was to some extent helped here by NBL that may have been familiar american ways of doing things.
The 1340 american- french 1-4-1 had 5 square meter grates completely welded fireboxes and screwed stays.
Rumors say that boiler very seldom was parted from chassis after getting TIA feed water treatment.

Nice Pics Duty Druid, thanks for posting.
I was actually thinking that pictures of Bulleids in the snow are quite rare - and in deep snow, even rarer. Has anyone got any like that?

A couple of Bluebell ones, both I think from 2009. Neither is my photo.

Got some pics of that but not to hand. Was an interesting drive once we’d left the A roads behind. Mind you, that’s a Jarvis Pacific, not a Bulleid. ;)

First one is my photo… a few more from that day in my album from that year

As @Spamcan81 says the roads were a challenge that day, sliding down Burstowhill Lane towards Horsted Keynes is something I don’t want to do again in a hurry!

I went there the following day and drove to Sheffield Park and walked from there, much easier than trying to go along the lanes!

The next year was a bit safer luckily.

Lovely shots, the following year’s snow I went over on a dull day, missed the sun….

Got some nice sun and snow shots in 2012 but by then 34059 had been withdrawn.

A couple of 34053 on the SVR on 9th December 2017.
I think this is the day the Bewdley by-pass was like glass at the traffic lights.

Looks like 2009 was a snowy Christmas, there are plenty of other shots of locos in the snow here: https://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bluebell/was/what_was_new09.html including various others of Sir Archie. Appears that the snow started in the afternoon of December 18 and lasted at least up to December 24.
