It is this point that I was trying to make as the SLL has probably the best business case with 6 of the same boilers/locomotives - which need to go out on hire to generate a major part of the operations funding stream. After all, the A1/P2 group will have three boilers for only two locomotives.

I am of the belief that SLL are to use the previously unrestored boiler from Sidmouth (currently at the North Norfolk Railway's boiler workshops) to expedite the return of Sir Keith Park

Vacancy for experienced Fitter/Machinist at Herston Works, Swanage.

Southern Locomotives (SLL) has a vacancy for an experienced Fitter/Machinist to work on our locomotive fleet. The company currently owns nine locos, including seven Bulleid Pacifics, several of which are currently being restored or overhauled.

We are increasing our professional team to fulfil our plans to return more locos for service on heritage railways, primarily Swanage Railway who we share the workshop with.

We are looking for candidates with an interest and experience of steam locomotives. Salary and Conditions by negotiation.

Please contact Simon Troy at southernlocos@btinternet.com, or call 01474 833263

Does anyone have an informative view of the situation with 34067 Tangmere at Carnforth?

I hadn't seen that but you may be right. Boiler in-ticket and not been out this year?

According to a WCRC diesel fitter on WNXXforum, Tanglemere was in steam today and tested in the yard at Carnforth.

I note that Tangmere is the advertised locomotive for Pathfinder's The Cumbrian Fells Steam Express on Saturday 9th September

A few shots of Sir Fred in the Cattle Dock at Alresford from last night, including a gratuitous shot of the red oxide I applied to the RHS of the rear bogie during one of the working parties.

Was this part of the upcoming move to Sellindge? The brake van and the wisp of smoke on the left hand side of the second picture suggests movement.

thats the main road to rail unloading point, so awaiting a low loader to move it by road to Sellinge, I'm wondering if it will be the same low loader that brings 35005's overhaul chassis back from Eastleigh?

I'm not sure if the brake was used during the shunt, if I remember correctly there was an 08 attached too.
The movement was a few days before. These shots were taken Saturday night during the RAT, the exhaust being from 506.

Huh, I'd just assumed that was diesel exhaust.

East Lancashire Railway expect City of Wells to return in time for their October gala, on a 5-year ticket as the boiler hasnt been lifted out of the frames.

Now that 34058 has left, to be restored in partnership with SLL, Might this open the way to the shareholding /ownership issue with 34105 being solved by the MHLPS transferring their shares to SLL, and in return SLL base one of their locos on the MHR ? i don't think the majority shareholder would argue too much, as Swanage, based on SR might be acceptable to them, they might even be perfectly willing to sell their shares to SLL, who knows, but it would be prehaps an solution to an age old problem,

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't the problem with 34105 that nobody knows exactly how many shareholders there are and who owns what? It doesn't matter if MHR transfer their shares if you've still got a myriad of other shareholders who could potentially cause problems in the future.
