It's nothing new anyway. 6100 and 6220 never went to the USA as it was 6152 and 6229 that went instead. In fact 6100 and 6152 changed identities permanently. I believe a pair of Castles swapped identities for the funeral of King George VI and a B1 temporarily took the identity of 61379 Mayflower for a special. I'm sure there were many other instances.

Since this threads talking about 70000. I see today 70000 is now in Ropley yard.

That's correct, Castles 4082 & 7013 swapped identities for KG V1's funeral. They never swapped back.

Beat me to it! It is sans coupling rods at the moment, next to a certain blue engine being fettled for the normal week of mayhem at Easter

I saw 70000 today but the small blue tank engine was in the way. So I didn't take a photo. I did noticed 70000 was buffered up against 76017 tender which made for an odd looking Brit.

Nice shot. I would guess she is "coupled" to the tender from 76017 so she is a bit easier to move around and there is a "hand brake".

It may also be for access reasons as the cab steps for a std are on the tender… also stops people falling off the cab due no tender.

I saw all the Brits except 70009 and 70025. I think the former was allocated somewhere obscure from my point of view, not sure about 70025, maybe just unlucky. If this goes ahead will I be allowed to underline her in my "combined"? :)

I forget the term we used for someone "copping" a loco they hadn't seen but whatever it was, you'd be guilty of it. :)

Ok, it's a fair cop (oops, I'll get my coat....). Pity though, I could have canvassed for a period as 70009 as well. ;)
I don't remember the term either, probably because I was never guilty of it.

"Cribber" or "Fudger" are two of the terms for it.

If these new smoke deflectors are to be made then it creates the opportunity for an event. A Tornado event. Get 60163 and disguise 70000 as 70022 Tornado which carried the modified smoke deflectors. The only thing that may need to be done is replace the crest as I can't find a picture of 70022 with those deflectors and early crest.
