I thought I heard about a project to restore at least one of these locos. Is this still at an early stage, or can we expect one of them back soon?
I love these locos, they remind me of my first love: Black Prince at the Liverpool Garden Festival! I was three, and the sight and sound (and smell) of that magnificent loco (enormous to me at the time) is what got me into this lark...
I know actual Black Prince is at RHDR, but it's had it's appearance (and performance) altered since (improved) so it's not quite the same as the 1984 BP. The Bressingham locos are, though.

Mannertreu is being overhauled but it is early days you can follow progress here http://mannertreu.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1

Rosenkavalier remains on display at Bressingham.

Black Prince is awaiting overhaul a Romney and currently stored at the back of the loco shed.

In the meantime a near relative from the same designer but built by Krauss has been undergoing running in trials at Ravenglass.

Aren't there another couple of the larger (Rosenkavalier & Black Prince) sized examples in Germany?

Only 3 locos were built to the Krupp design like Black Prince, they are all in the UK.

15 locos were built to the Krauss design. 2 are in the UK, 1 in India, 2 presumed scrapped, 1 converted to diesel, and the rest in Germany, Spain and Austria.

There are two running on the line in the Prater in Vienna. I can’t guarantee how often they are used, every time i’ve been in the prater it has been the diesels running.

The Prater is worth visiting anyway to to channel your inner third man and the Schweizerhaus is good for an insane roast pork knuckle and a beer.
