SHOCK HORROR THE BLUEBELL RAILWAY ARE HOLDING A DIESEL GALA.

nothing major by other standards, it is to feature 34059 :-k

    see it for yourself http://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/blueb ... lgala.html

line up is only Perserverance, the 08 and a mystery guest plus 34059, but that is steam.

might not be huge, but it is a huge step for the bluebell.

The strange thing is, it actually looks quite genuine.

Usually with spoofs of any kind, there is something subtle in the story, to prove that it is a genuine April Fool. Yet if this is a joke, then they've worked rather hard for it...its even listed on the special events page of the website! That it also lists ticket prices, souvenier booklet costs, bus times, special attractions etc; it seems to be genuine - call me gullible, but theres nowt on that page to show that its not.

    Curiouser and curiouser....

The fact that it is a diesel gala with possibly two main line engines, 1 shunter and a steam engine might just give it away. ](*,)

Plus what has already been said, it was uploaded yesterday but dated 1st of April. And of course the "mystery guest" icon shows the class of engine! Not exactly a mystery is it!

It's been well put together and as proved, is believeable, but i don't believe it. \:D/

Actually, on the Bluebell chat group, Richard pointed out that the press release listed it as a DMU rather than a locomotive.

Bit odd choosing a picture of a Class 33? (not too sure with diesel classes so if i'm wrong feel free to correct!)

Anyway, the link to the event on the bluebell site no longer works, still waiting for that apology LN850? O:)

sorry about the delay in reply, been at work all day, air traffic control requires total attention.

You guys were no fun to tease about this gala, my Dad, who is friends with one of the railways directors, both of them persuaded me to set up this thread last night. Still, it was bit of fun. I told them it would be hard to pull off.

    Cheers

well done to ln850 and the Bluebell for having the courage to do this and pull it off so convincingly especially after all the at time sunnecessary criticism they have faced over the 08 and class 73

Our hobby should be fun and if we can't smile rather than getting upset because we've made to look just a little silly then i'm afriad it's time to take up something else

Good news everybody all Diesel Gala mention has been got rid of on the Bluebell site.

Also 73136 seems to be going during April/May because it only has one more duty on Saturday, a special working, and the Roster has removed the 73 from the list for May .

Scary and well thought through April Fool.

I posted this in Bluebell Modenision thread.
