Shouldn’t be a lot of problem with a generous stop at Hellifield and 20 min at Appleby

Ok Neil - you are correct. It is me who is misreading RTT. I was under the impression that the loco came off the train in Kirkstall loop and ran forward to Leeds to turn, but it seems that it comes back to Keighley with the train and then comes out again later. I think that by 9pm pathing is less of an issue using that crossover

Out of interest are you firing at any time on the Bahamas S&C trips?

Saturday is another Northern Rail strike day when almost everything stops after 7pm apart from a couple of ECS moves. Bahamas can have all the paths she wants!

I dont think it is a strike day, but Northern say cant get the timetable back to 'normal' in time despite the suspension of the strike

Glad to see at last they are talking and hope commonsense prevails. To keep "on thread", it's still a great inconvenience, and likely extra expense, for anyone on the Bahamas trip who has travelled up by train and cannot return home the same day.

Is the diesel staying on all the way to Carlisle or just to Hellifield?

Its not, but apparently 3 days is insufficient to get stock where it needs to be on a normal Saturday (which seems odd as it would just be a case of it finishing Friday where the normal timetable plans it to be), the cynic in me suspects it more to do with the fact that northern find running trains for passenger rather an inconvenience and the strike stopping doesn't help that.

Anyway at least means that Bananas will have free reign on the S&C that day, although it does create a ball ache for anyone hoping to use public transport to join or view the train!

For extra heat I guess then and possibly because Bahamas had teething problems running it in.

According to a BLS spokesman. load nine over the arduous S&C was too risky given it's recent return to steam. Can't see why the diesel can't shadow from Hellifield.

Cost I imagine (extra path, extra driver(s) fuel?). No sure what the issue is, its not as if its going to be anything but steady away on her first run out of the box anyway.
