    Hello All,

Well, I am rather surprised that no one has mentioned the story on page 8 of the December edition of The Railway Magazine.

Perhaps also an example of the grapevine not working so well in this instance!

    Regards to All,

Not having read the mag but knowing your connection to 9466 and the thread title. Does this mean that part of the winter maintenance programme will be a repaint into BR Black for 9466?

    Hi Kev,

Well, apart from the fact that I like the record, yes you are right. The loco is 60 next year so we thought we'd give her a pressie! For the first time in preservation we will have sight of a black 94xx.

    Cheers,

    Bruce

    All,

    A serious bit now......

Since 1985, 9466 has run with replica cabside numberplates. The Owner has now acquired one original cabside for 9466 and would like to acquire the second one. We would also like to locate the smokebox numberplate.

If anyone can offer any assistance or give us a lead or two we would be grateful. Please PM me or contact me at bruce.murray1@ntlworld.com.

    Regards to All,

    Bruce Murray

    Hi Martin,

The only items that are in the calender so far for next year are to hopefully run at Quainton early on in the new season, although this has yet to be agreed, followed by a definate visit to the Mid Norfolk in July and August. This visit will tie in with the visit of 6023. There should be about a three week window in early July when both 9466 and the King are running together - see the MNR Website for details.

There is nothing else on the cards yet, but maybe when the word gets out about the new livery it would be nice to think that an invitation or two might be forthcoming.

    Regards

    Bruce

Great news and I look forward to seeing her in black. I am sure there will be plenty of invites and I just hope she gets to the South West. Don't suppose she will be painted whilst at Buckfastleigh and need some 'running in' there? Now if only she was going to Looe next year....

Double headed Black Panniers on the mainline would be quite good.

Agreed, and with electrification down to Bromsgrove now confirmed hopefully it'll happen before the gantries go up...

Sorry to go off topic a bit, but I have a question.
I got a photo of 8771 off ebay. Although the loco is grimy there is lining visible on the tank and cab side similar to the present day livery of 9600. How many 57XXs had lining in BR days? By the way, the photo was taken at Stewarts Lane with 34079 next to 8771.

The painting has been started at Buckfastleigh but will be finished when 9466 gets back to Quainton, hopefully at the end of the month. The loco will not run on the SDR. I think it is safe to say that the whole team behind 9466 would like to return to the south west - I guess we are open to offers!

    Regards

8771 was an Old Oak Common engine and as such would have been used on ecs in and out of Paddington. As far as I know all of the 57xx's on this work were in Lined BR Black.

Great news about the re-paint. Will very much look forward to seeing the loco somewhere in its new guise. I tinkered with a photo a while back on behalf of Phil Neale, to illustrate how a BR black 9466 might look...

    Dear All,

Thought you might like to see the attached picture. It is not mine but was taken by QRS Passed Cleaner Paul White on the first day in service, 1/5/11, in the guise 9466 last wore in 1964.

    Regards to All,

    Bruce Murray
