A Blast from the Past - Bahamas

    I've recently been scanning my old negatives onto my computer and I came across this one of Bahamas at Ais Gill in 1990.

    I was puzzled at the time as to what was going on with the paint job on the support coach. It was obviously in the process of redecorating, but the first few feet of the coach were painted in BR maroon, but only to a precise line, with the rest of the coach in stripped-down British Rail blue/off white.

    Can anyone shed any light on the reason for the strange turn-out?
