Looks like there is new hope for the last but one new steam loco built for BR, 92219. Feared it would be broken up for spares, according to the latest SR it has been bought by Stainmore Railway director Graham Harris & likely to move to Kirkby Stephen for restoration.

Was lucky enough to be able to photograph this engine only 2 days ago at its current base.

If it is true about it being restored then great news. Good luck to whoever takes on this challenge.

I have taken the opportunity to share some of my photos.

Many thanks for the photos. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this is very good news. As the penultimate steam loco built for BR, 92219 does have some claim to fame and it was very lucky to survive thus far. I'm just glad and grateful that someone has more bravery and money than I have! Good luck to 92219.

Could one of the moderators please move the discussion regarding modifying a 9F to another thread - it really has nothing to do with news of 92219

    Thanks

    Keith

    Ooh, I can't wait.

"Look, it's still rusting in the yard!".
    "Yes, I know!".

I think there were possibly two posts in this entire thread that actually provided factual news about 92219, prior to us wandering off topic and having a conversation about the Riddles 2-8-2 design (which is actually relevant to 9Fs in a broad sense). Face it, progress reports for 92219 are going to be thin on the ground for a good while yet, so why the stoney-faced rush to keep the thread free of all white noise? I remember the 92240 team labouring for years with really very little to show for it, and I don't suppose this one will be any different. In the meantime why not just enjoy the slightly silly but far more interesting conversation that's come in to fill the gap?

The thread is for 92219. I have no problem if yourself and others want to discuss a 2-8-2 design, but you should start a new thread for it. That's what the 'Post New Thread' button is for. Otherwise we may as well just stick everything in one big long thread and call it 'Railway Preservation'

I wonder how much of 92219 was used in 92214's restoration when Phil Brown owned both of them?

Are there any plans to start the restoration soon? Would love to see the 9F running along Wensleydale! I was really disapointed to see the one leave the NYMR, both railways being on my doorstep.
