No 152 of the ex Barry locos to have been returned to steam?

I'd be fine with Great Western, even if off region. They are a decent engine - unlike the Southern stuff...

I'm unclear why this 'my train's better/bigger than your train' nonsense needs to pollute every thread. If you don't like region/type "X" - then so what? Why imagine that everyone else is in the slightest bit interested?

On the subject of 9F 92134 - huge appreciation and gratitude for returning another iconic piece of metal to a living, breathing machine. Well done!!

Its conversation and the fact that a lot of threads cover similar topics. Namely, these two Southern pair up north... I have to admit, that I am actually interested to see Hartland return. Most take it for what it is, banter and conversation, even if the point of a lack of remaining Eastern region stuff is the sore point underlining all this. The forum is full of people that have their banner raised over issues - again that's part of the diversity and interest. Some will represent an engine (Tornado, Scotsman), some will steadfastly defend the reputation of an engineer, others a railway or train operating company. Dilute this down and things get a lot more stale. You know who will say what and when they do it again, if that's too predicatable then there's always the easy option to scroll past.

92134 is indeed looking fantastic, but to limit it to this would be being too narrow. The standard of the overhauls completed with and by the NYMR lately has been fantastic, so too is the effort and dedication to keep engines running. Many early starts to get springs changed, repairs done and engines prepped are going overlooked. With the focus being on the operation and sight of engines during the day, people forget the hard work and effort that it takes to get to a standard as high as this and then maintain it further. NYMR no longer has a shortage of power, indeed you could see engines being loaned out in the medium term. It takes a lot of planning and organisation to keep standards this high, to have parts, crews and certification of equipment all in good order. The NYMR is matching the standards of others on the mainline and far exceeding most that operate preserved traction. As the railway continues its development and will bring new assets like the carriage shed and improvements to operation it can only allow engines like the 9F and others to be showcased in the best light to both enthusiasts and the visiting travelling public.

A bit of an insult to other railways with fleets of well restored and well maintained locos and rolling stock.

Can I propose starting a new thread named "Regional Banter" so that each thread doesn't repeat the same stuff that imho, doesn't really contribute anything much other than fulfilling conversational chat.
92134 does look fantastic but I think you'll find this particular posting was unique to 92134 so let's give the team their glory.

It's always cause for celebration when a loco is returned to steam, but there's something very special about an ex-Barry loco steaming for the first time. Well done to all concerned!

92134 was being painted by Heritage Painting today. Shouldn't be long, now.

That must be it. Sorry! You'll just have to take my word for it but I'm sure pics will appear very soon. I would imagine it'll be making its first moves this week.

Am I the only one who would be kind of interested to see a 9F running for a bit without smoke deflectors? Purely out of interest and for something different
