I hope that the wrong date was the only error in the news flash !

I imagine that someone hit the 9 instead of the 0 on the keypad!!! and didn't proof read what they had typed. Still ... it made me smile.

Whoops! A couple of mistakes there. 29th Feb?! And "Wadebridge was summoned". We saw #34007 heading back to Alresford with the delayed service train from Alton and then captured #60019 helping #850 back to Ropley at Medstead after the services had finished........

Still it's good to know it was nothing too serious with #850.

They meant 'Wadebridge was summoned' to pick up the wedding guests. I was stuck at Medstead with her until they got the train staff to me by road so I could go to Alton to get them.

The signalling at Alton still not finsihed then?

They have to do that at Nordon ocansionally. Somehow during the peak summer service the 08 got to Nordon to do some shunting, and the tablet had to be rush back to Cofe by road for our service train to contuine (08 locked in the sidings of course).

Did that happen that much during BR days?

Will Lord Nelson make it to Swanage any time soon? (Or will the Mid Hants people dislike that one!!! ;-))

Ah right. Thanks for the correction. We were getting mixed messages about what was actually going on.

Hopefully the signalling will be finished by the middle! As I understand it, it is now in the testing stage with WS Atkins (an outside company) doing the testing. Signallers still haven't been trained and passed out to use it, apart from Paul Hawley.

Why would the Midhants dislike that?? I can't see a problem as long as it isn't within peak time?

I have to agree there, however it just might be later rather than sooner as 73096 is out of traffic at the moment.

    Regards

Yes indeed. We had a most enjoyable day out on Nelson last Sunday and the loco seems to be in great shape at the moment. Hopefully it will start to lose its "problem engine" tag when it's been on the Mid Hants for a while.

having seen and heard about 850s success on MHR, I ask myself, what was all that fuss about it being a rubbish engine????????????????/ [-(

If you want a laugh (or a cry) have a look at the MHR shed page. 850 is running with a face this week for the "Blue Engine" event. I quite like the addition of the eye patch!

Looks good. They'll be getting told off by the Thomas people for having a non-standard face though.

If the reference to the eye patch is Nelson himself, they need to look at the history books again. Depsite being blind in one eye, Nelson never wore an eyepatch....
