MHR web site says the boiler and tender were filled, and a warming fire lit yesterday. I've seen mention of tomorrow's special being in the afternoon, but know nothing more than that ATM.

Some details are probably best glossed over. But anyway, it seems to have got someone very excited, because it's apparently not the common knowledge I'd understood it to be.

I won't post full details, unless someone gets a bit too silly about it. Just regard it as one of those intriguing mysteries. :)

Good idea , although I did hear that because "Nellie" was coming to the Mid-Hants three individuals took three small parts off the loco claiming that they owned those parts.

However I understand that these have now been replaced and the green light is on for Friday.

    Regards
    Chris Willis.

There are now pictures of her heading out of the yard at Ropley for her first test run on the MHR Shed page.

The nameplate as I understand it Martin had nothing to do with it.

A speedo was one thing that was removed I believe, however this is all behind us now and I am pleased to say "Nellie" had her first test run this afternoon.

    Best regards

she is a bit on the rattley side though, ive been told by a reliable source that there is as much as 3/8 of an inch play in some of the thrust faces. before i get inundated with messages saying that i know everything because i use the term thrust faces i would like to point out that i do in fact know what they are and where they are and in no way think i am a CME.

What about the different diameter driving wheels?

Anyone got a copy of MT288 about?

Isn't the Thrust Face part of the Crank-Shaft?

the thrust face is the part of the axlebox that comes into contact with the inside of the wheel, and theres 3/8th of an inch gap between the thust face and the wheel, and by the way i can see your halo.

will she have to have the wheels dropped out and axle boxes re metaled at some stage to bring the thrust clearances back in , and does this have any impact on possible mainline running

I was going to ask this as well, as surely too longer distance and faster speed over 25mph will have some impact over this?

If this is the case I presume as she's not rostered to be running between the gala and April 25th they may have a chance to do so then. Depends how bad they are I suppose

I thought the MHR had already said that the locomotive will not go main line again until the Autumn?

    Regards,

That probably gives the MHR time to do the necessary work in exchange for the use of the loco?
