"No-one has been injured in the crash, however one lane is shut and Highways England estimates delays will continue until around 7pm."

No doubt the RAIB will check that the TPWS wasn't isolated.:)

There is a lot of weight there so you wouldn't have to be going all that quick to do that kind of damage. That's the second big shunt (pardon the pun) of recent times. I hope the loco isn't damage like the 56xx was.

More likely to be the Office of Rail and Road that investigates surely?? I bet the OTMR download would be interesting! Assuming the battery was charged of course.

Looking behind the lorry it looks like one lane was shut already with those concrete interlocking barriers. If that's what he hit it's no wonder the damage is such. Looks like the loco shifted as all the chains 'lean' forward...

This section of the M5 is been upgraded to a "Smart" :Saywhat: motorway and it looks like the lorry hit the end of the barrier where the work entrance/exit is by the damage to the front.

I must admit my physics is a bit rusty but I can't sort out that expression for dynamic force, unless there's a pun in there somewhere I missed.
I trust the accident will be reported as 80043 to the ORR/RAIB, then rip off the vinyl and when they come looking for it to do the inspection there is only 80072 - "it's not this one Gov!!"

It was still there when I went past southbound at 21.30 last night with lots of flashing lights and vehicles around it
