The loco shed looked a bit empty .......No chassis or tender for 70013! I was then told that they had been taken to the carriage shed at Swithland, to make room for Tornado.

The frames for 70013 are back at Lbro shed, but the boiler is still at Tyseley awaiting its new tube plate. Then it will be retubed and hopefully returned around December. The locomotive could then be steaming by the Summer next year.

70013 is still without its boiler, but the cab has been moved back along the frames, so I think the boiler may be due quite soon. The tender is also in place behind the frames.

This is a reply which covers a number of your postings from this morning on different threads.

Just to say thank you for these updates. My observation of this "Steam Traction" thread is that members of new build loco projects are very regular in posting updates on progress (I always enjoy the monthly update from the 82045 group in particular), but we don't seem to get so many updates about the overhaul or restoration of extant locos. Obviously, for any of us who are members either of heritage railways or loco-owning groups we get updates from newsletters. However, while it's a fact of life that one can't belong to everything, this doesn't preclude an interest in locos associated with railways of which I am not a member, so as and when time permits, Phil, please keep up the good work. I'm sure I'm not the only person who appreciates your postings.

Thank you John, as with many things we think "Why don't they do....." and then need to think "Well I can do.....". But I am really proud of the GCR and am pleased to help in my small way.

    Take a bow please sir.
The biggest driving wheel needs the smallest of shoves on that pinch bar.
Really appreciate your input about what’s happening in the East Midlands, thank you

The boiler is still at Tyseley, but various small jobs have been done on the chassis. There is still the final machining to do on the coupling rods.
DSC02749.JPG Work in the shed has concentrated on Witherslack, then it will be Oliver Cromwell, then the 04. There is a lot more space in the shed now that Thornbury has been taken to Quorn.

Small parts are being painted, but the boiler is still away, so not much appears to have happened.

It was hoped that the boiler might have been coming back from Tyseley soon but there has been another slight delay. The paint work on the tender is superb.

The boiler has still not appeared, but is still believed to be due very soon at Lbro.

No idea of its progress, but the boiler is sat outside at Tyseley as shown on this video (with which I have nothing to do with).

In the shed yesterday 70013 was still boilerless. Interestingly the crossheads were off the engine, I wonder if they were being given a more thorough examination following the failure on 70000?
