Well good run this today. Congratulation to A1ST and everybody involved in the building of Tornado. A privilege to be on-board with fellow covenanters. Mainly on train footage and capturing the crowds:

Mark: Glad you got that ‘exclusive’ shot; maybe we should have come with you!

Just got back from a hectic day. after my train from Leeds to York got cancelled and replaced by a bus after a full train had been sitting at Leeds for 30 minutes plus, I managed to get on the second coach ( leaving hundreds in the queue) the coach ended up crawling for 20 minutes in the York traffic, pulling up at the staion around 12.05. Sorry if you were one of the people who were bowled out of my way the footbridge! I made the train with a couple of minutes to spare. I can do without stress like that.

A clockwork run, my only disappointment was that it was all so smooth and effortless (and we had a MkII coach) that apart from the drifting steam and the constant whistles, it was like a modern train ride.

Tornado looked just as stunning as the photos had promised. The crowds everywhere were amazing.

Next week I'm on the London trip, I think I'll set off from Darlington. Thanks to my new found friends Dave, Michael and Dale, if you read this.

More good publicity with a two page spread in the Mail on Sunday, crossing Durham viaduct...

I finally managed to upload my video from yesterday for what its worth. As I wasn't familiar with the area and I went to see the Cotton Mill Express at Diggle first it was hit and miss with the location, I arrived with about 10 mins to suss out the area and set up. I ended up shooting into the sun in a hazy sky and for the second time that day someone walked across the front of me as the end of the train had just passed.

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ciN9sJ2OioI

I had another camera set up for a passing shot so will see if thats any better.
BTW, I don't know whether its my internet connection but I seem to be having problems both uploading and viewing Youtube last night and this morning and I am unable to view Simon's at all, coming up page not found. :-k

Another smashing day out of seeing 60163 :)
Was up nice and early this morning to go get it on its move from York to Doncaster at Colton and we got a nice blast on both the whistles :D something i've wanted for some time now...
then wowww! the amount of people that turned up at dinner was untrue, and some peoples parking is diabolical, i've never seen anything like it.
Anyway footage now online with the usual HD option.

    Footage Available Here

There are some great videos and photos on here, and credit to everyone for making the most of the freezing weather. But who would want to miss the spectacle. Tell me, someone, the chime whistle; I spent my young days mostly on the LMS and GW, but living at Luton was a bike ride (lengthy) from Hitchin where we could see the East Coast steam. Chime whistles; from what I remember were only on the A4s. But have they actually fitted TWO to Tornado, a chime and a shreek whistle ??? Have to say, the drivers seem to love the chime !!!! Fabulous.
