    One track mind...;)

But on the main point. Logically, if the train takes a diesel with it then the train will be turned. If it doesn't then only the loco and support coach will turn. That's simply because you don't usually propel a whole train from the wrong end although I have known it happen when the train is just being shunted out of an adjoining siding into a platform as at Shrub Hill.

Single track mind, wonder if it's bi-directional?

Depends on the destination but I agree that anywhere there's a triangle there's a danger the whole train will turn if a box is present.

On UKsteam.info, the right-hand column says "Diesel at rear" but crossed out. Make of that what you will...

No-one has told NR yet. There is no path for the lone diesel out of there......

It has been confirmed that on the return the train will terminate at Watford due to engineering works but worse the whole train will be turned at Chester and guess which way round the stock is......

What's the logic behind turning the whole train?

I would imagine that it is probably quicker than hooking off and sending the loco round the triangle on its own, and will not leave a platform blocked with the stock (which the running round loco would also have to get past, thus occupying yet another track)

It's ontime Northampton. Dining is at the front, where it belongs.
