Does anyone know of any good photo spots between Crewe and Chester? Preferably some place where I can get to on public transport as I don't drive.

Outward similar to last year.Return1/2 hour later depart, 1hour later back.
Last year the 2 5's managed to keep time except for the final run into Euston.

You maybe be better to get off at Rugeley TV or Stafford ! There's no stations in between Crewe & Chester !

I think the writer of the message is aware of the latter already.

Thrilled to have the loco and steam in general, however we are either at the front or rear of the train. Close to steam one way or is UK Steam Info hinting that the whole train will be turned around by the diesel... Thoughts please

    Thanks

Trains are not usually turned at Chester.

The three trips I have been on out of Euston to Chester, including the one last November , were not turned although one many years ago out of Paddington was.

Sadly,I think you are correct i.e. from the movements at Chester shown on UK Steam info(reporting numbers starting with 5 - ecs rather than 0 - light engine) it looks like the whole train is being turned. The mystery is why, as Chester trips have not normally been turned before, and why has it got a diesel on anyway? One thing is for sure,WCRC will never tell us!

You've put my mind at rest, thank you.
That's what I thought. It's unusual as we went last year. So it's a 50/50 of being stuck 10 coaches back!

Probably to keep the pricey seats up the front, can't have the plebs getting the box seats

If the loco takes its support coach surely that is an ecs? Therefore the whole train may not be turned

I think you're correct in that loco + POB = a 5Zxx rather than an 0Zxx reporting number.

I thought the pricey seats were full of those too busty feeding their faces to take any interest in the motive power?
