Well Friday 21st I'll be at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) having a scan to check that my new heart valve is functioning as it should. But at those prices they're sure to fill it.Good luck to them, I hope they have a fabulous run up the ECML. Once again a lot of hard graft has gone into 22 and we are (or should be) indebted.

Interesting route avoiding York station and the only passenger stop at Alnmouth if RTT is to be believed.

I've seen suggestion elsewhere regarding the Directors Train that her owner/benefactor has a house near Alnwick which may be a reason for the Alnmouth stop.

Who knows, I can't imagine that KX-ALN could be done with a single driver without a break, albeit can they swop on the move anyway? RTT suggests passenger set down, plus it would explain the rather peculiar running of a very short notice one way trip from London to Northumberland on a Friday afternoon?

There was a reason for stopping 1A35 at Newcastle, Deltic cabs are not exactly soundproof from what I’m told (usually in a very loud voice!)

Interesting point that about noise. How does it play with H&S with regard to noise...I hope I haven't stirred a hornets nest...just curious

I would love to see the original Deltic back on the mainline. When I first saw it I was amazed...the livery etc...David Bowie's song " This is not America" always comes to mind, not the of course then, but now..

I feel sure that long ago I read somewhere that a leather curtain was fitted between cab and engine compartment to try cut the noise down in the cab. Of course, I could be wrong.:)

Now calling Doncaster and Newcastle due to earlier incident on ECML.
I would expect to see a dog getting off at Alnmouth..

    Hi Matt,

Its had an engine swap with one of the stable of spares Martin Walker had, that explains the rapid return to service.

Repairs to 2 quill shafts, and then re-phased.

The one with 3 leaking liners, is still a work in progress.
