    Evening all

Does anyone know of a complete Smith of Rodley 5 ton steam crane which we might look at please? We have one in bits at Shildon - which we acquired in pieces - and now wish to restore. We've been to Bradford Industrial Museum today to look at theirs, but would appreciate knowing of others or photographs thereof - such as the complete and workable machine at Amberley.

    Many thanks indeed
    Anthony

Thank you yes, shame I've just missed by a month a meeting there, but I was doing a different job then...

Also if anyone has drawings or info, please shout. Ours was withdrawn from Neasden depot on LT in April 1983, so if there are any pics of it at work, we'd love to see them.

    Many thanks again
    Anthony

We've got one at Foxfield that's looking for a good home if you're interested in having it for spares?

We might just be...it's about 20 works numbers off ours. Challenge - bring it to Onslow behind Mr Whittaker's roller...

Now there's a good challenge! I'll suggest it and see what he says!

So the Smith Rodley at foxfield needs a good home eh? Maybe you would be interested to know i brought it several months ago. Im still waiting for foxfield to make it accessable so I can arrange for collection.

Adam is correct and a number of regular Foxfield working members have spent some days working towards its extraction.

As Chairman of the Society I have a duty to ensure that the record is straight. Now I am aware of this post I will speak directly to the person who posted duff information.

No parts are available, the crane belongs to Adam and we need to get it to a loading point ASAP.

Ah my mistake, Glenalmond is correct. Just shows how well information gets disseminated!

Two of the extraction gang are part owners of a well known Avonside that you partly own !.

Anyway, glad we sorted that out. Need to direct our energy to moving said crane to the loading point.

Don't know if it may be similar in some ways but we have a 5 ton diesel version of 1929 at Newbridge on the NYMR

Does anyone know the history of 12394 by any chance?
