The SRPS set is likely to again be involved with Scotrail's steam programme I would guess.

Its either a consequence of the banning order on mixed brake system sets or ...... politics.

Will that be in the Autumn tho, as last year, although they will want them serviced and available for then I guess, which may not make them hireable for the Summer ?

Mrs W and I were booked on this, at least we got 3 months more notice than the CCE "cancellation" at Preston. Last Saturday WCRC couldn't find a replacement coach albeit at short notice; this time they can't find a full set with many months of advance notice.

So presumably this isnt really about sortage of stock, or is it? Just curious based on the long standing booking of this-why all of a sudden no stock, is there really this little mainline rolling stock. how many sets do wcrc have. dbs(or whatever theyre called this week:) ) have at least three. seems all a bit strange lol

Well perhaps it as something to do with PMR allowing DBC to work the engine on the Mid day Scot on the 19/3.

They are in the process of repainting their rakes, so that's probably why there's a shortage.

See I thought that for a short while, but the reason that they went DBS was WCs temp collapse. Simple reality I dont see WC being juvinille enough to hold that as a grudge.

Having witnessed a general overhaul of a Mk. I at first hand a few years ago (all I did was change a window and upholster a couple of seats!), it takes the best part of a fortnight to do a reasonable job of one carriage. Even if its a case of quick rub-down and spray, it would take a week by the time the undercoat, gloss and varnish has dried. Add ten more, and you have eleven weeks' worth of work ahead of you.
