What a sight thrashing through Leyland Station at 14.15 today. Don't know what the speed was but she seemed a blur! OK only with support and a 37 but what a performance.

Made me sad that I was waiting for the local Cattle Truck to go into Manchester...

Not doubting your info Steamworks, it would just save people what could be a nasty juorney up the M6 or from wherever.

    Thanks, Neil. (stuck in work)

Info re cancellation came from a Carnforth driver. Given the severe conditions in the NW and the fact it's a non-essential train then decisions are likely to be made at short notice.

Thanks for that, one person had changed their mind due to the weather report anyway and another turned back.

Thanks again, Neil. (hoping that it is rescheduled for Christmas eve as I am off work... )

Cancellation also confirmed by Ian Riley. M6 also down to one lane in that area. 5" of snow at Carnforth overnight.

Shame, it would probably do better than most of the plastic trains in this weather and might have even been a useful 'thunderbird'!!

I understand that the driver has reported for duty, but when any movement takes place is unknown.

According to The Works, 44871 was due to run Carnforth - Euxton Junction this morning, leaving about 11:00. HTH

Believed to have left Carnforth for Euxton, now that may mean she is either turning round and going back to Carnforth. or detaching from the train and going back to Bury?
