How have the MNLPS lost a booking? 35028 has been failed, the locomotive could not have worked the train.
Are you really suggesting that 35028 should have sent out despite discussions with the boiler insurers saying ‘x needs doing’?

The blessing is that, although the booking's been lost, it's one that they would not have been allowed to meet. That is small comfort, but comfort nonetheless

No of course I'm suggesting no such thing.
They had a booking. Two things have happened, either of which alone would have prevented Clan Line from working the train. Therefore they now do not have a booking. Therefore they have lost a booking. I still can't see any blessing in that.

Losing 1 booking and possibly getting a bit of extra time to get repairs done so maybe not having to cancel future bookings?

You’ve put it better than I did, thank you.

Sad news to hear and give them all the best for the repairs and all that's involved in the process. Wonder what's going to take her place for the rest of the Pullman runs (Duchess again or the LSL engines that are due in Southall for winter such as 34046 or 4498?).

The UKRailTours Medway Valley Pullman is now being hauled by 34067 Tangmere, and (as bad as it is to say this given the cirumstances) that's certainly something I'm looking forward to!

Sad news, but the professionalism of the MNLPG is to be admired. Clan Line will be back in Rolls-Royce condition soon enough, I'm sure.

It is good news, I would think a lot of behind the scenes work went into making it possible so we owe a vote of thanks to those who are never named but work to get things done.

So that means that Clan Line has (for the first time in its history) travelled by road to a specialist contractor who will carry out the final stages of work on the thermic syphons and also the planned retubing.

That makes three big main line locos that have needed substantial work done in 2022 - 35028, 60103 and 60163.

To be fair though, the last two were planned overhauls

Leaky Finders are in Hele adjacent to the old station site of Hele and Bradninch.

I spotted the empty S.A Smith Low Loader at Pinhoe near Exeter about 2.00pm yesterday and guessed that a loco must have been delivered there. I was as surprised as many when I found out it was 35028, but I know that Leaky Finders are getting a growing reputation for high quality work and that the loco is in good hands.

As was this one with Clan Line actually. It just turned into something more, just like Scotsman.
