even after an immaculate in lined out Br green, with red backed name plates engine has puled away from Carnforth tomorrow, there will be some who will be calling out that something or other isnt right, that the totem is wrong etc, (As 35018 has a rebuilt 1960's tender,it can only carry the later version) some will no doubt say it should be the early one, an vise versa

The final twist in this epic saga of the relaunch could be which train it takes tomorrow .......

Looking forward to seeing the photos. Not out of any sort of livery wibble, but because it's another Merchant back.

Doesn't seem to be anything activated in RTT so far?

It's 35018 out and the the red Jubilee back. Returning to Carnforth for a repaint, they have got a lot of green paint leftover

Thanks for the heads up, hadn't noticed anything was coming down the coast tomorrow, might be able to see BIL from the back garden then?

Actually thinking about it, with the Cumbrian Coast job tomorrow as well they will have to get Galatea back to Carnforth today as from recollection Leander doesn't fit round the coast, nothing seems to be in the system in terms of a York-Carnforth move so far so it could be BIL over Shap and round the coast?

I sincerely hope so, followed by 46115 returning in BR blue or maroon .....
Childhood nostalgia of Steamtown with 44932 in green. 50 years since it was painted that way next year?

I can relate to that, Whilst she was on test she did not look "finished" 98818 plain black, no name, where as in green, lined out, with 35018 on the cab sides, with name plates on she will look like the finished article.

I'm pretty happy either with green or black, but it definitely looked unfinished and wrong before.

45699 reportedly went back to 10A a couple of weeks back after the flood subsided.

I hope not, look what happened to the last Merchant navy that overnighted at York, it never left

A quote from FB yesterday morning might suggest differently...

"Just passed the NRM at York on the train. Outside were 09017, D9002, 55009 and D6700 plus steam Flying Scotsman, Union of South Africa and Galatea."

Sadly a summary of many similar threads that seem to pan out this way every time a restored/overhauled loco (re)appears...............

I wish all those that that are quick to point fingers at WCRC would learn but sadly they wont & they'll not retract anything detrimental said either.

I couldn't find any record of her coming back from the dark side so who knows, she may come over today on a VSTP path, it would seem a bit risky to put BIL over Shap on her first trip out rather than a pootle to York?
