Ais Gill would resemble a Tommy Cooper convention.

Except that knowing Carnforth , they will have assembled a regiment of Darleks , or Cybermen to ensure you dont get to see it,

Joking aside has anyone seen any safety valves lifting over 10A recently?

Was at Carnforth yesterday to see 45212 depart for NYMR and was aware of something else in steam and thought I heard what sounded like a MN whistle.

However, when I passed again at circa 4:30 pm it was 45231 trundling up and down the yard so must have
been a watery Stanier hooter I heard.!!!

I really hope that tests for 35018 commence soon. I think that Carnforth shall need a healthy 3 engine fleet for summertime operations. Having a loco that can haul 12 coaches up Shap along with the 2 jubilees which are both steaming magnificently would be ideal.

I suspect that once 46115 is brought in for overhaul there is going to be a very long , comprehensive list of work that shall need to be carried out.

Would imagine your hopes are shared by those involved with the strategic planning at WC.

There's reports on the Book of Face (I know, I know...) that something is lifting its safety valves in the yard at 10A. It's well hidden, of course, from prying eyes :( . Was it 35018?

When does 46115, come out for overhaul? i would think that carnforth would want to ensure 35018 is ready before 46115 ticket expires, if the plan is the British India Line is to replace it, financially it would once it is availible 35018 will be very much in demand either up north, or down south and i would think carnforth would want it earning revenue asap.

IIRC the first fire in the boiler was late 2007, coinciding with that of the first resurrection of 6100 so the reports at the time went. First test runs were mid-2008? So expiry of ticket somewhere between those dates perhaps? Or maybe even before, someone even suggested late summer this year. 46115 has no more published turns but it'll probably be in the pool for summer charters if available.
Interesting see whether 46115 or either of the light pacifics at 10A go in to the works after 35018.

I'd fancy Bodmin will see light of day quite a while before Tangmere given the former is a generally reliable rebuilt and the latter is something of a problem child.

46115 was freshly out shopped (I recall she had only been finished a day or so before) at the WCRC open day on 26/27 July 2008, cannot find the poor photos I took but photos from my go to north west site for such things are at https://andrewstransport.smugmug.com/WestCoastRailwaysWCRC/West-Coast-Railways-open-steam/i-VdDgf6f taken by I believe @wcmlbls1846 of this parish to whom any plaudits should be directed?

Without getting into the whole original vs rebuilt debate, arguably the only question is that the originals demand more in maintenance terms but if treated properly are capable of extraordinary performance.
That said, I would place the same bet as you but will Bodmin be ahead of 46115 too?

Rather depends whats happening with Bodmin as we speak, taking account of the fact that 48151 and 44932 are also missing in overhaul has Bodmin been worked on since she has been there? I note that there is still a Bulleid boiler visible as one passes, finished in silver paint, now is this that from 34073 and has it been overhauled ready for Bodmin or is it just off 34073 and painted for protection or is it another one? Edit - actually a quick google shows that that man has done it again https://andrewstransport.smugmug.com/Northwesttrains/North-West-trains-2015/i-xh9LMt3/A

I imagine if Bodmin's overhaul is underway she will come out before 46115, but in a straight battle for workshop space who knows?
